Easy to make ChocoFlan cake Recipe
Welcome to AYESHA'S KITCHEN. Chocoflan Cake is a Mexican dessert which combines flan and chocolate cake, covered fully in caramel. It is also called as impossible cake but it is very easy to make at home. The setting time is time-consuming. In Mexico, chocoflan Cake is very popular at pastries, especially for big parties and birthdays. The cake used in this chocoflan is made with an intense chocolate flavor and the flan is made by blending eggs, condensed milk/milk powder, evaporated milk and vanilla. You can also make a thin layer of chocolate cake by using half amount of cake mix. Then it is baked in hot water bath, once cooled, refrigerated and gently unmold. Anyways I loved and enjoyed the preparation of chocoflan as I was very eager to see how the layers are formed...Really it is really yummy...A must try dessert recipe..!!!
INGREDIENTS
Butter - for greasing the mold
FOR THE CARAMEL
Sugar - 1 small cup
FOR THE FLAN
Egg - 3 nos ( i used only 2 nos)
Sugar - half a cup ( can add more)
Milk - 2 small cups
Milk powder - 1 1/2 cups
Vanilla essence - 1 tsp
FOR THE CAKE
Egg - 2 nos
Vanilla essence - 1 tsp
Sugar - 2 cups ( according to your taste)
Vegetable oil - half a cup
All-purpose flour - 1 1/4 cups
Milk - half a cup
Cocoa powder - quarter a cup
Baking powder - 2 tsp
PREPARATION
- Caramelize the sugar by heating sugar alone in a pan on a medium flame. Once it melts and become golden off the flame.
- Grease a mold with butter and pour this caramel into this mold. Set aside. It will stick once cooled.
- Now start preparing the flan layer by blending together eggs, vanilla essence, sugar, milk and milk powder in a blender. When done pour this mixture over the caramel layer through a strainer.
- Now prepare the cake layer. For this, you can either blend in a blender or can use an electric mixer. Beat well eggs, vanilla essence, and sugar. Then add oil, again beat well. Add flour and beat well. Now add cocoa powder, baking powder and beat well.
- Pour this mixture over the flan layer. Don't be panic when pouring as it will mix with the flan. Give a gentle tap to the mold for spreading the cake mixture evenly.
- Now place the mold on another tray with hot water. This is called as the hot water bath.
- Then bake in a preheated oven at 180 degree C for 50 minutes. Hot water bath baking is very important for chocoflan, so do not skip this.
- Once done, take out of the hot water bath and let it cool. Then refrigerate for 4 hours.
- After 4 hours, take the tray out and keep it over a hot water tray for 5 minutes, then unmold the chocoflan Cake to a plate. The yummy surprising dessert is ready to serve..!!!!!
